Plushdepartment's PURE line of handcrafted ceramic computers and amplifiers is a sleek collection of timeless design that is available in different colours or artists' limited editions. The cubic ceramic base with rounded edges lends itself well to metal coatings, such as the gold above, but look out for Piet Boon's concrete edition some time soon. I have been complaining for a long time that besides Macs there are very few good looking computers. Why is that? Is it so hard for HP or Dell to focus on design and to come up with a really well designed computer?
You can imagine my happiness when Plush Department introduced us to their line of Pure* dept. Design Computers - minimalist towers made of ceramic. They also make PC Amplifiers and recently put out a gold version.

Personally, this is exactly where we hope PC case design is heading. Away from cheap plasticky finishes with garish lights and doo-dads shaped like bad rendition of Transformers toys and into the realm of understated object design that disappear into the decor when not in use.
